Theory & Background generates academic paragraphs for your literature review or theoretical framework, using your uploaded documents as sources.

What this section is about

This is one of the core writing features of Academly. It produces draft paragraphs that synthesize your source materials, including proper citations and a "Proof of Material" section showing exact source quotes. Every statement is traceable back to your documents.

When you should use this

Use Theory & Background when you:
•    Need to write literature review sections
•    Want to synthesize multiple sources
•    Need draft paragraphs with citations
•    Are building theoretical framework content

How it works
1.

  1. Navigate to Writing > Theory & Background
    2.
  2. Select your documents:
    •    Check boxes next to relevant sources
    •    Note: Documents must be extracted first
    •    Warning appears if pages exceed limit (~40-50 pages total)
    3.
  3. Enter your parameters:
    •    Topic/Research Question: What should the paragraph address?
    •    Mode: Short, Medium, or Long output
    •    Language: German or English
    •    Citation Style: APA7, Harvard, Chicago, MLA
    4.
  4. Click "Generate Paragraph"
    5.
  5. Review the result:
    •    Main generated text with inline citations
    •    "Proof of Material" section with original quotes
    •    Source page numbers for verification
    •    Literature list for your bibliography
    6.
  6. Use the output:
    •    Copy to clipboard
    •    View in library
    •    Refine with additional prompts

Important notes
•    Generated text is a draft - always review and edit
•    Verify citations before including in your thesis
•    The AI only uses content from your selected documents
•    Longer outputs require more source material
•    Monitor Student Points consumption for large generations
